Water
Pollution and Urban Sewage Management: Alternative Paradigms |
| |
| Duration
: |
January 16 to 20, 2006 |
|
| |
Details
: |
| |
| Indian rivers are dead today. Investments
of millions of rupees on sewerage and sewage treatment
plants have literally failed to breathe a fresh
lease of life into our polluted waterbodies. Then
how does one manage pollution? We need to think
differently. What India desperately needs is
a strategy to manage its human waste. For this
we need to look for a cost effective and non
sewerage paradigm of human waste disposal. The
capital intensive, water intensive and material
intensive process of urban waste management
as practiced in the West works best for rich
countries and not for poor ones. But how?
This is what our unique course is going to
teach you. It comes to you as a package of current
water-waste, pollution management practices
and policies and its draw backs, the alternative
paradigm more suited to the Indian situation
and more. Also learn how to plan, design and
maintain a localised wastewater treatment system
at your courtyard.
